Description
The HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation unit equips individuals with the skills to perform CPR in emergency situations, following Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This qualification applies to individuals who may need to provide CPR in community or workplace settings. It covers assessing emergencies, performing CPR on adults and infants, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), communicating with emergency services, and reviewing the response. Entry Requirements
- Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of course commencement or should have sufficient maturity for the course content delivered.
- Students must have the physical ability to perform practical demonstrations in practical training, including at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor (and an infant manikin on a firm surface).
- Students must have sufficient English language, literacy, and numeracy skills to understand course materials, participate in discussions, and complete assessments.
- Students must have reliable internet access and an appropriate device for online pre-study.
Delivery Mode
This course employs a structured blended learning approach, totalling 13.5 hours of learning and assessment. Students begin with 6.75 hours of mandatory online pre-course study via our Learning Management System, which ensures a solid theoretical foundation before practical training. This is followed by a 3-hour face-to-face session at our training facility, focusing on clinical demonstrations and hands-on practice in simulated work environments. The final assessment component consists of a 1-hour online knowledge test and a 2.75-hour in-person practical skills assessment, where students are directly observed by our trainers to ensure full competency. This comprehensive model guarantees that students are well-prepared with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to achieve the unit of competency.
Assessment Methodologies
At Australian Leap College, we use a comprehensive approach to assess your competency. This involves a variety of methods and techniques designed to gather robust evidence of your acquired skills and knowledge. Assessments include:
- Written Tasks: Questionnaires, Knowledge Questions, True/False Questions, and Multiple-Choice Questions, etc.
- Practical Demonstrations: Observation of Simulated Scenarios and Physically/non-Physically Practical Assessments
- Case studies: Application of Knowledge to Realistic Situations, etc.
